Ms. Ana Viveiros

My Philosophy

My philosophy is that children learn best through play that is geared towards topics that are relevant to their own developmental needs and interests. I support a Constructivist teaching style and creating a play- and cognitive-based curriculum for my students. Lessons will be hands-on and student-centered. I believe students to be active learners in their own education by building upon what they know and seeking out solutions through experimentation and research. I am a guide in a student’s educational journey asking questions such as “What do you think about that?” or “Tell me more about that topic.” Students learn best through play where they feel that they are active participants in the classroom.

  • I use various forms of assessments to make sure students are successfully meeting classroom goals.

  • I use a combination of observations, anecdotal notes, and photos throughout the day and use that information in their progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, and student portfolios.

  • I encourage families to become a member of their child’s “team” where we (family, student, and myself) work together throughout the year so that their child is successful.

  • I encourage students to become aware of their world and to think about how we can become better citizens in our environment.
